The Wenbro Kerb Stone Carrier is a purpose-built manual handling tool that lets two operators lift, carry, and place kerb stones safely and precisely — without bending or straining. Its gravity-fed scissor action automatically grips the stone when lifted, keeping hands free from pinch points, while non-marking rubber pads protect both the kerb surface and the finished surrounds. Ideal for road construction, civil works, and paving projects where accurate placement matters.

Features

  • Auto-locking scissor grip — the tool clamps the kerb stone under its own weight the moment it’s lifted, releasing automatically when set down. No manual latches or adjustments needed.

  • Non-marking rubber pads
replaceable rubber grip surfaces protect the face of the kerb stone from scratching or chipping, keeping finished work looking clean.
  • Reduces injury risk eliminates the need for operators to crouch, bend awkwardly, or grip rough-edged concrete, significantly lowering the risk of back strain and hand injuries on site.
  • 1 000 mm working width sized to accommodate standard kerb stone lengths used in South African road and civil construction.
  • Durable painted steel frame — built for the rigours of daily on-site use, with a robust finish that withstands exposure to concrete dust, water, and general construction

FAQ

  1. What type of kerb stones is this carrier suited to?
The carrier is designed for standard concrete kerb stones used in road construction and civil works — typically rectangular profile kerbs between 900 mm and 1 000 mm in length. It is not suited to irregular, curved, or very small decorative kerb units. If you’re unsure whether it suits your specific stone, contact us and we can advise.
  2. How does the grip mechanism work — do operators need to adjust anything?
No adjustment is required. The scissor action is gravity-fed: when both operators lift the carrier, the stone’s own weight causes the arms to close and grip it securely. When the stone is set down, the arms open automatically and release. This makes for fast, repetitive placement without stopping to fiddle with clamps or latches.
  3. Can it be used by a single operator
No — this is a 2-person tool by design. Kerb stones are heavy (typically 30–60 kg depending on size), and a single-operator lift would create a serious manual handling risk. Two operators sharing the load not only makes the task safer but also gives better control when positioning the stone accurately to a string line or level.
  4. Will the rubber pads leave marks on the kerb or surrounding paving?
The pads are specifically non-marking — they grip through friction and pressure without transferring colour or residue to the concrete surface. This is particularly important when working with exposed aggregate or precision-finished kerb units. The pads are also replaceable, so once they wear down, replacement sets can be fitted to restore full performance.
  5. Is this tool also available for hire, or only for sale?
The Kerb Stone Carrier is currently listed under Wenbro’s sales range. For short-term or project-based requirements, contact your nearest branch to discuss availability — the team can advise on the best option for the duration and scale of your job.
